Dressing down for the Cult Cart work

i have just read on another post that those brothers and sisters manning the cult carts are meant to be fully suited and booted, i have seen the brothers wearing jumpers instead of jackets.

is the dress code monitored?.

Yes, of course... bonnet and boot. Clearly understandable. Do you guys say those words, like, all the time? Sorry I have never been to the UK. So if you are going on a picnic you say, lift the bonnet and check the oil, and put the picnic basket in the boot and everyone understands what you mean?

I understand shops is better understood, than stores. I don't understand biscuits for cookies. Growing up, did you not have homemade chocolate chip or peanut butter cookies for lunch with say a piece of fruit for dessert? Biscuit is biscuit like homemade for breakfast with butter and jam to have as a side with eggs, and ham or bacon. I love waffles but have them very seldom. I put fresh pecans in them as I cook them in the waffle maker and serve always with real maple syrup and butter, or whip cream and strawberries.

Sweater - Jumper... Am I missing something here??? How can someone understand jumper to be a sweater???

I understand things like "torch" aka flash light, and Carriage Way as road way .

Maybe jumper is like the car part you call bonnet. I think "bonnet" means the back or American trunk of the car. I do not understand why it is called bonnet , though.

I do appreciate UK'er's (is that a word?) writing on this Board. Seeing how you use some written words I can see how Americans, shortened words like your whilst to our while.

True English from England, is beautiful to hear and read. The Southern, American regional language is fun to hear and read> (Think Mark Twain, lol and Gone With the WInd).

I love hearing all the different accents. I was 6 years old when we visited my Texas relatives. They had me in stitches laughing at how they talked. I thought they were putting on an " act " for us, but it was very odd to hear, people at the stores (shops) talk the same way. Very interesting for a child to hear.

Now I better understand the OP. And no, I actually have never seen a brother out in service wearing a jumper/sweater.

Great campagne in Portugal (ex-JW)

i like to tell you what we've been doing these past few days here in portugal (ex-jw).

we create a brochure and printing, so we can send to the maximum of congregations in portugal.

some individuals were also covered in this campaign.. the title of the pamphlet is: "when will the kingdom arrive?".

TJ Curioso, I believe you and your group of active ex-JW's in Portugal are being a great source of accurate information for your JW countrymen.

Who of us knows, who will read your brochure and who will not?

I would think most in Portugal were Catholic, and told by Watch Tower New York, that JW's must now shun their Catholic friends and relatives once they become baptized.

To give your people accurate information, that this American based religion, is full of lies and cover-ups, gives your countrymen a chance to decide for themselves, what they want to do with their own lives.

I say Bravo for you! You are a Hero!

My JW Mom came for an impromptu visit yesterday. It went great! :)

it is so nice to start actually believing that my mom wants to have a relationship with me and my kids again.

there was awhile, where it was in question, and she wasn't sure if she was supposed to associate with us or not.

i think the stand that my sister has taken against me, is actually causing my mom to start doubting whether it is a good idea to follow this cruel example of "love" as defined by the watchtower.

I appreciate hearing how articulate and sincere you are with the JW's and your Mom.

Talking to your Mom while she is doing crafts with her grandchild, is as the poster Jgnat says to do, talking to a loved one, when they are not in " cult mode". It does seem as though your dear Mom was listening to your logical assessment of the discussion you had with Miss K... and your Mom came up with the correct follow through thinking. Yay !

Your Dad, I thought at first, he was so happy to see his daughter and was acting "normal", but I think you probably have an excellent idea if someone is "love-bombing" you or BS'ing you.

I enjoy reading your posts.

I believe your Miss K is getting a "faithful witness" from a Christian Lady, who is not prone to be a drone for anyone.

It is none of my business, but were your parents as mentally awake and aware, as you are, before they got baptized and then something happened, they were lonely, love-bombed, brain washed??? with all the WT dogma, flip - flops, nu -lite, forget old lite, did they get confused and shut their brain down???

hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.

i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.

we do about 2 bible studies a week.

Tell Elder's at the Kingdom Hall you met your JW friends at the Y.... Young Mens Christian Association or YWCA... Young Women Christian Association.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to go there. Can't swim there. Can't work out there. Can't have a job there.

It is kind of like if you met these people at Bingo, or at a Casino, or the Horse Races, or at a Strip Club or you were all smoking cigarettes hanging out together, or wife-swapping, or at your children's Christmas play at school, or at anyone's Birthday party, or at a Halloween party, or Valentine's party, or at an Office Xmas party, or were neighbor's sharing a box of Fireworks for your children's enjoyment on the 4th of July. ALL of these are forbidden and considered disfellowshipping offenses.

JW literature says these are ALL not allowed.

Do you think going to the "Y" is sinful??? It is viewed that way. In Watch Tower language by going there you are "touching" the unclean thing. Bad, very bad, worldly association. Also known as "interfaith". Being around "worldly" people aka normal people are bad, in JW.org's narrow view.

If the people who study with you ever went to the "Y" once, in any regular congregation, worldwide, they would be viewed as bad association, if not outright disfellowshipped . . The area or congregation that you are now associating with could be a renegade one where many underhanded things, might be taking place.

This is not good for you jnj . These people are not who you think they are.

Do you understand that your freedom of thought, expression, clothing style, music, movies, associating with "worldly" people, family members, is in danger of disappearing?

You are not even allowed to buy Girl Scout cookies. Did you know that?

Jw's look down on anyone who goes to University, I kid you not! Did you know that?

What is it these JW's are holding out for you as a carrot???

New "friends" that will drive you for "free" 3 hours to visit your very ill step-father?

I know normal people that would do that, and I do not have to "join' their religion.

Jw's count "time" on you (think Brownie points). They counted all the time driving you in the car, at the hospital, and every minute they spend with you. You represent a gold mine of "time" for them.

Did you really think you had made instant "friends"??? Well, did you?

In JWLand having a "Bible" (Watch Tower publications, only) study gives JW's status in the Kingdom Hall. It gives them status at their Circuit Assemblys and also at their District Convention. It gives your study conductor bragging points.

You are cha - ching , hours of time, they are counting on you.

You are "studying" Watch Tower publications twice a week???

Cha-ching, cha-ching. Oh, you are a gold mine of time, they can easily count on you. Did you know that?

Cha-ching, cha-ching. Maybe we can take her shopping??? Cha-ching, cha-ching.

You sound like a dear, earnest, sweetheart, caring human being.

My advice, my 2 cents worth is , run as fast as you can. Hold all your family members close to you and let them know how much you love them and do not let anything or anybody get in the way of that.
